Just when you thought you’d have to be confined to a keyboard and mouse when trying to interact with a computer comes a revolutionary, albeit twenty-year old, concept that is definately going to change the world. Announced today, Microsoft revealed Surface, a multi-user, multi-touch computer system set up like a normal table or desk. Using a series of cameras built into the system, it allows multiple users and items to interact at the same time. The system has built in WiFi, allowing it to link up with almost any WiFi-enabled device, such as a digital camera or a cell phone, by simply placing it on the system itself. Don’t expect to see it out before the end of 2007. These babies’ cost 5k and up, but if you can afford it I’d highly recommend it.
Just imagine the possibilities of what artists, businesses, and the entertainment industry could do with this. Gene Roddenberry would truely be proud.

Yesterday, Samsung introduced the F700 smartphone which is a direct competitor to Apple’s soon to be released iPhone. The big S doesn’t skimp on the features either - they include a 2.78 inch touch screen, 5-megapixel camera, 7.2Mbps HSPA, Bluetooth, Full HTML browser and a eye pleasing UI by Adobe. It doubles as a music and video player that supports formats like MPEG4, H.263, H.264, Real MP3, AAC+, eAAC+, and Real. What I want to try out is its VibeTonz technology “which allows them to feel the buttons accompanied by responsive vibrations.” The major one up (in my opinion) that Samsung has on the iPhone is the full slide-out qwerty pad which provides for that much needed (and desired) tactility. Because feedback is always better than no feedback.

All the speculation, waiting and wondering is OVER. The Apple iPhone is here!!!!!!! Well, you have to wait a few months to own it, but it’s here!
Today at MacWorld 07 good ole’ Stevie gave us the full dog and pony show. Initially he said they are introducing 3 devices, but he was really hinting at the full capabilities of the new iPhone. This thing is jam packed with features… bye bye treo and crackberry. Slighty taller and wider then the current gen ipods, thinner then a Moto Q and has a bevy of amazing technology built right in. The iPhone’s interface is all touchscreen using Apples patented multi-touch technology, allowing you to use multiple fingers on the touch screen. The iPhone will not only sync with iTunes but with iPhoto, iCal, Your Address Book, Safari and much more.
The phone will be exclusive to Cingular, here are just some of it’s feature:
- 3.5′ Screen
- 320×480 Resolution
- Multi-touch Screen
- 4gb or 8gb
- 5 Hours Talk-time
- 16 hour MP3 Playback Time
- EDGE
- WiFi
- 2mp Camera
- Bluetooth 2.0
- MP3
- Video
- OS X
- Safari
- Widgets
- Customized Google Maps
- Yahoo Push Mail
- Ambient Light Sensor
- Tilt Sensor
The price point you say? It’s $499 for 4gb and $599 for 8gb. Which considering the price of a Blackberry or Treo and how much MORE this phone does, it’s quite a steal. You can get more in depth info @ Apple.com. I dunno about you.. but June can’t come fast enough.
