There’s some sad news today as Oscar nominee Heath Ledger was found dead in his Manhattan apartment today at 3:26 eastern time. Information surrounding his death have lead police to believe that he died of a drug overdose. Ledger had apparently been addicted to a controlled substance, but according to friends, was clean for over a year. The circumstances leading up to his death are unknown, but Ledger’s body was found naked, face down on his bedroom floor by a housekeeper. Ledger split up with wife Michelle Williams last fall and leaves behind a two-year-old daughter, Matilda.

Che, Jane, Luke and now John? Say it ain’t so. 1up seems to be slowly loosing all their fan favorites.
NeoGaf has broke the news that John Davison the Editorial Director over at 1up.com aka one of the head honchos is leaving 1up to start a new web site devoted to family entertainment (they say kids really change you).
Beyond his Editorial Directing duties John is a regular on the best game IPTV show (with out question) The 1up Show and is pretty much the co-host with Garnet Lee of the 1up Yours podcast which is considered by most (including myself) the best video game podcast.
This really is a shame, 1up seems to keep their star personalities. Hopefully they can hold on to some of their other fan favs like Shane, Garnet, Shawn Elliot and Mr. Mark McDonald.
The 1up Show and 1up Yours will not be the same.

Some news from J.J. Abrams out of Comic-Con this year is the casting of Spock in the Star Trek prequel film. “Heroes” star Zachary Quinto, who plays Sylar, the show’s main villain, will play the young Vulcan alongside an as of yet uncast Captain Kirk. Leonard Nimoy will also appear in the film as an older version of Spock, which suggests the film may include flashback elements. The films producers are also hoping to have William Shatner reprise the role of an older Kirk, while rumors abound about who will play the younger captain (the most prominent rumor of which puts Matt Damon in the role).
