Some news from J.J. Abrams out of Comic-Con this year is the casting of Spock in the Star Trek prequel film. “Heroes” star Zachary Quinto, who plays Sylar, the show’s main villain, will play the young Vulcan alongside an as of yet uncast Captain Kirk. Leonard Nimoy will also appear in the film as an older version of Spock, which suggests the film may include flashback elements. The films producers are also hoping to have William Shatner reprise the role of an older Kirk, while rumors abound about who will play the younger captain (the most prominent rumor of which puts Matt Damon in the role).
This year’s Comic-Con at the San Diego Convention Center may have been a sprawling stew of human bodies and strollers, but I can’t say that they didn’t show off a lot of cool stuff. Exhibit A, the Iron Man 1.0 suit as worn by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) in the upcoming Iron Man flick. Marvel debuted this bad boy at their booth on the exhibit floor, at first enclosed within a giant crate marked “Stark Enterprises.” They invited a buttload of fans and media alike for the unveil, and what a sight it was.
