Three years ago Monolith Productions, previously known for a diverse set of titles ranging from The Matrix Online to No One Lives Forever, released two games near simultaneously of which both utilized similar resources and themes while at the same time being quite different in style and approach. While the more successful title of the two, F.E.A.R., went in the more traditional FPS direction with a complete focus on gunplay the other, Condemned: Criminal Origins, went in a direction that is rarely utilized in games to a successful level: FPS meele combat. Condemned 1 was a sleeper hit as a Xbox 360 launch title and its sequel has a lot to live up to. But does it? Read on and find out…

If you’re on your way to hell right now like I am you might want to grab a jacket, as today’s announcement from 3D Realms in the Dallas Business Journal is predicting a heavy cold front down there. Yes, unbelieveable as it may sounds, 3D Realms’ president Scott Miller announced that Duke Nukem Forever, the title that is taking forever, will be released on the PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 this year.
In addition to this Miller also confirmed that the original Duke Nukem 3D will be getting a release as well this year on the Xbox Live Arcade with online multiplayer, scoreboards, and a co-op mode. Here’s hoping they don’t censor it as badly as I expect they will.
UPDATE: Reports from ShackNews say that 3D Realms is contradicting the Miller statements. An official announcement will probably be posted later today.
Who’d have known that one of gaming’s greatest mutes could have so much to say? What amazes me is that the host of the show didn’t catch on!
