
You know, if there were only two words in the world that were definately NSFW, one would require a credit card and a box of tissues. The other, obviously, would be Nintendo. Anyone else think Nintendo has very inconvenient timing for placing the conference at the beginning of the work day? Well, never fear, Slacker’s here! Here are the highlights of the press conference.

11:01am | Montage video plays of critical acclaim for the Wii. Nicely done!
11:04am | Raging Reggie walks out on stage and is… happy? He praises gaming in general for taking its place alongside tv, movies, and music.
11:07am | Reggie talks sales figures, getting in those little stabs only he’s good at. Reggie praises growth for gamers 25 and older, who account for 1 in 3 sales. He also claims that 1 in 3 women are buying Nintendo products.
11:14am | Reggie says that the Wii is not a fad, with the best selling handheld gaming system in history and consistently sold out sales of the Wii. An additional 100 games are in development are in the Wii. Third party sales account for half of all sales on the Wii.
11:17am | Another montage video plays showing alot of user-made videos.
11:18am | Reggie shows off the Wii Zapper, a housing for the nunchuk and the Wii remote. It looks like a submachine gun. Players at E3 will be able to experience it playing Resident Evil the Umbrella Chronicles and Ghost Squad.
11:21am | Reggie announces that the Wii Zapper will be packaged along with a game for $19.99.
11:22am | Reggie shows off Soul Calibur Legends, WWE Smackdown 2008, Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, Dragon Quest, Mario & Sonic At the Olympic Games.
11:24am | Reggie talks Smash Bros. Brawl, saying the game will release on December 3rd.
11:25am | Another video, this one about some Wii gaming news editors praising Nintendo stuff.
11:26am | Said editors show off Zelda Phantom Hourglass and Metroid Prime 3 on stage. The footage of both is impressive and will no doubt be big sellers.
11:32am | Reggie walks back out and talks about Nintendo online. Another video plays talking about Nintendo wifi on the DS and the current abilities of the Wii as they pertain to online. 5.5 million users on the DS use wifi.
11:35am | Wii Virtual Console has sold 5.6 million downloads with 112 games. WiiWare will begin next year. Reggie announces the Check Mii Out Channel, which will allow people to share and grade their Miis.
11:36am | Reggie talks about Mario Strikers Charged, Pokemon Battle Revolution, Madden 08, and Fifa 08, all of which will be online games.
11:38am | Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock will be an online title as well.
11:39am | Mario Kart for the Wii will launch 1st quarter next year and will be an online title. Reggie shows of Nintendo’s own custom Wii Wheel, which will be packaged with Mario Kart.
11:41am | Another video (seeing a trend?) praising Wii and DS gamers.
11:42am | Satoru Iwata walks out on stage. He calms fears that Nintendo is not appealing to veteran gamers and jokes with the crowd. Iwata says they want to destroy the “barrier between veteran and beginning gamers.”
11:50am | Wow, ANOTHER video! Two gamers from Austin, TX who talk about Super Mario Galaxy, showing snippits of new gameplay footage, as well as Brain Age 2.
11:52am | Reggie reappears, announce that Brain Age 2 will be on shelves August 20th. He also talks about Super Mario Galaxy, saying its the first true successor to Super Mario 64. It will release November 12th.
11:54am | Reggie shows off Picross, a new puzzle game, as well as MySims from EA, which will use Miis, coming to the Wii and DS. Oh boy, High School Musical the game (/sarcasm). He also shows off Rayman Raving Rabbids 2.
11:56am | Flash Focus, the vision training game available now in Japan is coming our way. Ubisoft is bringing My Word Coach and My Life Coach.
11:57am | Another video focuses on Wii Sports.
12:00pm | Reggie introduces WiiFit, a excersize game that uses a touch and weight sensitive pad on the ground to excersize, play DDR like games, and more.
12:02pm | Shigeru Miyamato talks WiiFit, talking about how it will be a center point for the family with a focus on health. Three fitness trainers demonstrate on stage some of the activities. Each of the games detect your balance. The game will have 4 genres of activities and will be available to demo at E3.
12:07pm | Miyamoto talks about the Wii Balance Board, which can monitor your weight. Reggie walks out to demonstrate measurement, with some laughs about his height versus Miyamoto’s. A great show and demonstration.
12:15pm | Reggie talks about the leadership of Nintendo in the market, saying that Nintendo has ambitions to lead the market to become the pre-iminent form of leisure entertainment. Tha end!

Snake may be on Social Security now, but he can sure still cause hype. In a statement released today by Yair Landau, vice-chairman of Sony Pictures at DICE, it was revealed that the previously unannounced studio for the Metal Gear movie would actually be them. Word is that the movie is in pre-production, but no other specifics, such as the crew, cast, or script status, were revealed.
And no, Uwe Boll is not the director.

Six years ago, when Nintendo revealed the Gamecube, Nintendo showed us the potential look of the Zelda series that looked simply astonishing. The resulting game we got, however, was startlingly different, causing many fans to cry out in agony despite it being an excellent game. Nintendo, hearing the cries of the fans for a more realistic Zelda got their wish in 2004, when the next Zelda game was announced.
Then Nintendo announced they were defining the next generation of games with the Wii, showing off a revolutionary system whose control scheme and promised that the next Zelda would be available on launch day.
