I was first exposed to Speed Racer in the early 90’s when it was aired on MTV very early in the mornings. And since then I have been hooked, at one point owning all 5 volumes of the series that Lions Gate have released on DVD. So when I heard that Larry & Andy Wachowski were finally bringing Speed Racer to the big screen I felt they were the perfect directors to do it, when I heard they were doing it as a family film with a “sorta pop-art asthetic to it” I gotta say I got a little more interested. Sadly Speed Racer failed to exceed expectations at the box office, mainly because it went against the juggernaut that was Iron Man. But now it is on DVD and Blu-Ray Disc for everyone to see, but did this film fail because of competition or was it just not that good? Read our review and find out.
