Paramount/Showtime have officially announced the second season of their hit original Series Dexter for release on August 19th. Unfortunately it has only been announced for Standard Def. DVD as of this moment, but we will let you know if that changes. As always we have your specs and features below.

How MANY audio commentaries & who does the audio commentaries? Anyone know? I am hoping for at least one commentary with the main directors/writers & at least one commentary with Michael C. Hall. The commentary on the 1st season set w/ the directors/writers was great, but the commentary with the 4 cast members (which did not include hall unfortunately) was SOMEWHAT enjoyable (only the 1st time around) but pretty much pointless. It could have been SO much better. The only cast member that tried to stay on point & say things of interest was Eric King (Srgt. Doakes) but it was hard for him to do that with the other 3 cast members interrupting him with their loud laughter & pointless rambling about nothing.
Also, I have a great 3-disc review set of the second season of Dexter, it comes in a box w/ artwork & everything. It’s an Original from Showtime, not a bootleg or copy. Anyway, I didn’t even know if I wanted to buy the official set when I read that 2 episodes of Brotherhood were added, AGAIN! Why is Showtime trying so hard to ram Brotherhood down our throats? Brotherhood WILL SUCK UP PRECIOUS DISC SPACE! The Dexter episodes will be compressed more because of stupid Brotherhood! It’s bad enough Showtime would wait until AFTER Brotherhood to show us a preview of the next week’s Dexter! (As IF that would make me watch Brotherhood, I HAVE mastered the art of channel surfing thank you! ;) Anyway, since there commentaries, I’ll buy the official set. But I will never, NEVER, watch Brotherhood. ;)
