Is Neversoft being a little too anxious about their newly acquired property? Maybe, as it seems that an article up at Billboard.com says that Guitar Hero 4 is already in development. What’s interesting is the statement that Aerosmith is heavily involved in the project, as the game is supposedly “dedicated” to them.
I like Aerosmith as much as the next guy, who doesn’t? But an entire game devoted to a single band?

This is a great idea. I have been saying since the Guitar Hero franchise came out that they need to do an expansion game devoted to one band and Aerosmith would be my first choice. Actually the game should be a shell that would allow you to download other complete bands and their music into the game via xbox live or whatever for a fee. I can not tell you how much this game would rock. I’m already looking forward to Guitar Hero III but I will definately buy an Aerosmith Guitar Hero. Bring on the riffs Joe Perry.

Aerosmith is not as bad as you all are making them out to be. There are a lot of people that LOVE them. But yes I do agree with all of you that the whole game should NOT be dedicated to them. Hopfully they dont have too many songs from Aerosmith. I would like to see more AC/DC, Guns & Roses, Bon Jovi, Poison that kind of music.

Omg, Bon Jovi? Wth dude? Look, nothing wrong with Aerosmith, but I don’t agree with the ONE band deal. Wouldn’t the marketing be bad for that? Not everyone likes Areosmith, and the game would receive a LOT of flak. But look at it this way. Choose any other band out there, and you’d be in a different seat. For those who are knocking the game before it even has a chance to reveal the truth, than you obviously hold no passion for the game. If you’re just going to go off a few simple statements, than keep your opinions to yourselves. They said they were working closely. Never once did they say that they had more than one song, or even a FULL game of JUST them. Any thing’s possible, and I suggest you wait for the truth, instead of wasting your time with something as foggy as this.

Did it ever occur to you that Slash and Tom Morello were heavily in GH3? This basically means that you will probably have to do some battle against them. If there gunna add battles they need to acually add some legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Herman Li, Angus Young. This is GUITAR hero not BAND hero. I think that it would be cool if, like, each tier was a different band, and each time you go up a tier, you join a different band, but u choose what band to join next. THAT would be cool. Also, how about the actual game being normal price, but u can buy expansion packs with a shitload of songs for like $20. They should do that.

Instead of doing rock legends such as guitar hero three….why not do more modern age stuff?? I like Aerosmith just as the next guy but what about all of the bands now days that they havent done. Lets see, Sublime, Disturbed, Senses Fail, Nirvana, Coheed and Cambria, 311, Green Day, AFI, MXPX, Brand New, Queens of the Stoneage, etc…. If the makers of guitar hero were smart, they would have many different development crews and could make anyone and their mother love this game! i think you should make gh4 the same as GH3. like a wode variety of songs. the only thing different thing you should put in GH4 is make it that you can push the buttons upwards to bend the strings, also you i think that they should put a palm mute button on the guitar vehind the bridge. that would make the game more challenging.

Everyone has their own opinion about the new gh4 game,I love some aerosmith songs, but i don’t think i would pay 50 dollars for just them, if they put more than just them on there, maybe. but the truth of the matter is this, It doesn’t matter what anyone says. They are going to make the game how ever they want. The gh series has made more than enough money and can afford to take the chance of it not selling. I agree with alot of you about putting more of the classics on there, I figured the 80’s version would have more of a selection and i was unfortunatly dissappointed, maybe one day they will get it right. until then we will have to wait and see what happens.

I think dedicating a entire game to a single band isn’t a good idea, but I don’t think they mean the ENTIRE game. For example, Guitar Hero III was about “Legends of Rock”… so, it may just be famous Aerosmith songs with some alot of Aerosmith influence style bands. Anyway, I’ll buy, and love it. :D

This could mean that they’re going to make Guitar Hero 4 so that you can buy game discs with solely one artist on it, so there’d be like, an Aerosmith disc, and an AC/DC disc, and a Metallica disc, etc. If that were the case, they’d probably make it slightly less expensive for the game discs, and they could bundle each version with a guitar controller that looks like the band’s guitarist’s guitar. Either way, they’re not going to make Guitar Hero 4 solely one band.

Aerosmith are OK but i find their songs “lack” the true guitar hero “passion”. Metallica/Avenged Sevenfold would be a lot better but I think i’d still prefer a GH with mixtures. They seem to be more challenging that way O.o

I don’t think they are planning to make it all Aerosmith. I only think this because if they dedicate the game to just one band, they will lose a lot of sales from non Aerosmith fans. I love Aerosmith and a ton of people do, but there are plenty of people who I’m sure wouldn’t buy it. If they let you download other bands, then maybe they are doing it that way. Is it just a rumor that this is dedicated to them? Just because they are working closely with the game developers doesnt mean it’s an entire game about them!

Well, I love all teh guitar hero games as well as the start of the other series of games, Rockband; so of course I’m excited about another guitar hero game coming together. And I am kind of glad that bands like Aerosmith are getting involved with the series. But I think dedicating the game to Aerosmith is a little over the edge.

Why would you do Aerosmith. There not even that good. They have like one or two good songs. It would be pointless, the game has to have veriety or mot many people would buy it. Okay, for you kiddies out there that say something along the lines of “All Aerosmith would suck” I will explain like others have. Dedicating something to someone or something is just like saying, “Hey, this one’s for you!” Kinda like a book (if you’ve actually read one) where it says “Dedicated to so-and-so”. It doesn’t mean the book is actually about them and it doesn’t mean the game is all Aerosmith.
Fortunately for all of us the game makers are smarter than those of you thinking the game will be nothing but Aerosmith. The game makers know that an entire GH game with one band on it will go over like a lead ballon. GH3 was essentially dedicated to Slash and Guns & Roses. Was it comprised of nothing but Guns & Roses? No, it wasn’t. Geezuz kiddies, think about it for a sec.
Now go back to your sixth grade classes and explain this to all your friends so they don’t look as dumb as you do. If it’s gonna be the offical Guitar Hero 4 they shouldn’t dedicate it to one band, that’s just dumb. It doesn’t matter who the band is, they shouldn’t dedicate it to anyone. Shame on all of you who say GH4: Aerosmith would not sell. Does anyone remember which guitarist was at the release of GH3 in NYC? Yea that would be Joe Perry there folks. I’m not saying I’m a huge fan of the concept of an all-Aerosmith GH or anything like that but it would be a huge seller. Aerosmith has been around for 30 years and that concept would not only appeal to the young fan base but possibly the older fans as well. This franchise has lots of opportunities, cause as wide the music world is, the same for Guitar hero (at least with good guitar bands), but to cover all of them would take forever, maybe when it is just ps3, 360 consoles, make the songs to download, and i mean every one, from classic like chuck berry (i mean, who wouldnt play like that guy, just like back to the future!!!)and getting to bands like pink floyd, and of course for you numetal (ugh) fans, you could download your limp biskit, linkin park stuff, while metalheads can get their blind guardian, children of bodom etc etc etc songs, i mean, it is so easy, only thing……….. they gotta buy the licenses, easy…………………….

I would buy it, even if it was all Aerosmith, simply because I’m a GH-Addict.
It would be nice if they made a sort of “Rock of Ages” type game though.
I mean since guitar hero has such a wide variety of age groups when it come to the players, it only makes marketing sense.
They could start off with the 60’s, and work their way through to today’s metal. There are plenty of rockin guitar songs from every era, that would be challenging to play.

That’s the problem with being as old as I am (39)… There has already been an Aerosmith only game. It was called Quest for Fame, published by IBM for the PC back in around 1995. No guitar, just a plectrum which plugged into the parallel port. It was pretty good for it’s time. There was a good variety of tracks too. But, the real deal for GH4 instead of a compilation from Activision would be for bands to make their own GH greatest hits albums under license from Activision, then we can all play our favourite band instead of arguing over who’s best :-)

It’s not being 100% dedicated to Aerosmith. Why don’t you ppl research some shit before makeing so many accusations.
Google guitar hero 4, ea etc.. has a website for it, they explain the details so far. They are basicaly working with Aerosmith on a song or 2, kinda like they worked with Tom Morrello and Slash etc.. in Guitar Hero 3.
So far the only thing I see, or I personaly have to complain about is, they are not introducing GH4 for the ps2 platform which will hurt there sells. ps2 prolly sold more than any other console because they are cheap, and been around longer, more ppl have them.

What would be good (though complicated and expensive) would be if you could order the game online and pick from a longer list of songs. Like I said, it would be more expensive, but it is so much better when you can play songs you like rather than there only being a few songs you like. I think aerosmith is a bad band, there popular for who knows why. Dedicating a game to them is like the dumbest thing ever, dedicating a game to even the beatles is dumb. Nobody wants a game dedicated to a band.

If guitar hero 4 is going to be dedicated to a single band, I think the series will fall in rep. If someone doesnt like that certaint band they dedicate it to then they will lose sells, and personally i hate areosmith they suck, but i still wouldnt want an entire game of all the same band that would get boring and a waste of money. I think they should just make a regular guitar hero, and allow ppl to download there fav songs off xbox live so the game sells good and if you dont like it you could make it your own.

I agree with everyone who is against the dedication of aerosmith to guitar hero 4. u cant just have an entire game based on one band. itsa a stupid idea. first of all the company is going to lose money because almost everyone doesnt like aerosmith a whole lot which means not very many people are going to buy it. i dont think aerosmith deserves a whole game to them self. you know who deserves the game. every band that hasn’t been in guitar hero before such as the blue oyster cult or Neil young.If aerosmith is dedicated to guitar hero, then i am not buying it. i hope they change their minds.

Guitar Hero IV is not gonna be all Aerosmith. In June 2008 they are releasing an expansion of Guitar Hero III called Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, which will be mostly Aerosmith songs. But Guitar Hero IV will be a separate game to be released sometime in the fall of this year.
