You knew it was coming; you just didn’t know when. Microsoft sent out a press release this morning for Comic-Con regarding a price drop of $20 down to $179.99 for the XBox 360 HD-DVD drive.
In anticipation of the release of Heroes season 1 and 300 on HD-DVD, 360 owners will be able to download 300 in HD on August 14th. You can also download the pilot episode of Heroes in HD within the next couple of days when it is released on the 360 video marketplace for free during Microsoft’s Comic-Con Bring It Home campaign today (7/26) through Sunday (7/29).
In addition, much like the Blu Ray movie mail-order deal, Microsoft is sponsoring a HD-DVD movie mail-order offer for those who purchase the drive.
Unfortunately, the list is lackluster and you pick 5 of them. The offer is valid August 1st through September 30th. You can check the list out after the jump.
