Here goes the first REAL Hybrid HD-DVD / Blu-Ray player. LG was first to the market with a hybrid player but it lacked most of the HD-DVD only features like the interactive menus and HDi special features. The Samsung UP5000 player will fix these issues.

So it’s not only a great HD-DVD feature but it’s also an amazing Blu-Ray player featuring 24 FPS with out any pulldown conversion. The player also utilizes HDMI 1.3 for those of you that have a TV or Receiver that even supports HDMI 1.3.

The only barrier here is the price, the player will retail for $1,049.99. Hybrid players are the only way to end this DUMB ASS format war. Hopefully by this time next year we’ll have some full featured hybrid players around the $300 price range.

We’ve been discussing the format war over on our forums… let us know what you think.
