With Halo 3’s release a little more than 2 months away, its not unwise to consider the future of the franchise. With the showing of the first gameplay footage of Halo Wars at E3, the possibility of a Halo movie, and the mysterious Peter Jackson project, one does have to wonder about how to evenly distribute the franchise. Shane Kim, in a recent article at 1up.com, talked up the subject.
According to Shane, the Jackson project, while set in the Halo universe, does not occur within the Halo timeline we’ve come to know. It will not be a Halo 4, however, so one has to speculate as to what it really is. Shane also mentioned that the Jackson project, combined with Halo Wars and a Halo movie, would serve as a gateway for the franchise to build beyond what it is now, saying that it is essentially a series of the same marketing potential as Star Wars had thirty years ago.
But where’s the line in the sand? Don’t worry, he says, as you won’t be seeing Halo Kart Racer anytime soon.
…wait, that’s not bad an idea…
