Masters of the Universe Remake

By the Power of Greyskull! That’s right, He-man’s a-coming back! Of course, fresh on the heels of Transformers coming out this summer, it should be expected that someone would see the possibility for gold from the plethora of vintage 80’s content available to the film industry. Transformers, He-Man, Ninja Turtles, GI Joe, Thundercats… John Woo tried unsuccessfully to get a He-Man project off the ground some years ago, but now the folks at Legendary Pictures are getting it done, with none other than Mr. Brad Pitt up for the title role (assuming he has no problem bulking up his physique). If Pitt passes, then 300’s Gerard Butler is also in the running. There is also word that Producer Joel Silver and Warner Bros. may have some stake in the project as well, but its unknown if that is even related. Regardless, whoever makes the damn movie better do a damn good job justifying He-Man’s silky golden bob cut and Prince Adam’s flamboyantly pink tunic.

Three things: Skeletor should not have a fleshy face (there’s a reason he’s called Skeletor); No Gwildor (Orko’s okay–IF there’s not a lot of him–he’s the Jar-Jar of MOTU); And most important, it should take place on Eternia–AND ONLY ETERNIA–not Earth.

Two more things: He-man should NOT have a cape (that’s OK for Skeletor, but not He-man); No new characters outside of the MOTU universe. If anything, it would be better to show some kind of origin for the EXISTING characters (how Skeletor gathered his henchmen, how Mechanek and other less-than-whole characters got their mechanical parts).
