A STRATEGY game from UBISOFT?! A COD title NOT set in WWII?!

Well friends, how’s about a two-for-one special? After several weeks of hype via viral website Rev64.com, Ubisoft officially announced today the existence of Tom Clancy’s EndWar. Clancy fans should take note however, as the game is not a shooter but in actuality a strategy game set over a decade into the future ahead of the other Clancy franchises. Ubisoft Shanghai, previously known as the developers of Splinter Cell’s innovative and addicting multiplayer component, has announced that the game will ship within the 2007/2008 fiscal year, meaning we’ll probably see it this Winter. For those wanting more info, check out the June issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly. Those who return to Rev64.com can now enter password s9p1z6 to learn the backstory of the game.

In addition, Infinity Ward, the original developers of the Call of Duty franchise announced today that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is in development. While nothing else has been said about the title other than the fact that it is not a World War II shooter, the first trailer for the game will be revealed on ESPN this Saturday April 28th during the NFL Draft around 1:00pm EST.

Two longtime franchises setting up games that are completely unlike their predecessors? Sounds cool.
