For the better part of the last 10 years HBO has had the best original series on television today, with hits like OZ, Sex in the City, The Wire, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Carnivale, and Deadwood the network seemly can do no wrong. And add Entourage to that list of fine programming as well. Based loosely on executive producer Mark Wahlberg’s early career in the business with his friends from his neighborhood and his agent Ari Emmanuel. Well now Entourage is returning for the second half of its third season this Easter Sunday and we have the review for the just released Season 3 part 1.
With Vince’s (Adrian Grenier) star expected to rise even higher in the Hollywood firmament as a result of his starring role in a potential blockbuster titled Aquaman, the boys must find a way to keep stroking their golden goose while making sound decisions for a long-lasting career in a world of fleeting fame. This season was a series of down notes (not exactly a bad thing) it started off really positive with the opening of Aquaman to HUGE numbers and Vince finally getting his shot at his dream role as Pablo Escobar and then it starts to go sour, see the studio happy about the success of Aquaman decides to fast track a sequel that will conflict with the shooting of the Escobar flick, and thats just the start of Vince’s problems. Vince’s brother Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon) is having somewhat of a career spike as well, landing a pilot on Ed Burns’ new television series, Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) and Eric (Kevin Connolly) discover the ups and downs of being managers in their own right. And Ari (Jeremy Piven); well Ari is still Ari, dealing with all the troubles of having a teenage daughter and being a high powered Hollywood Agent.
Slim pickings on the extras front, but still very informative.
• Audio Commentary from Creator Doug Ellin, and actors Jerry Ferrara, and Kevin Dillon on 3 key episodes - One Day in the Valley, Vegas Baby, Vegas, and Sorry, Ari.
• Vegas Baby, Vegas - Behind the scenes with the cast on location in Las Vegas.
And thats it, the audio commentary tracks are very good, the chemistry between the 3 participants is very enjoyable, you can tell they love having fun with each other.

Season 3 is quite a change from the previous 2 sets technically. Seasons 1 & 2 were shown in fullscreen but in this new High Definition age Season 3 was shot and shown in HD, and on this DVD we get a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer that shows off all the bright colors and beautiful scenery that L.A. and Las Vegas have to offer.
In addition to the new widescreen transfer there is also a English 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack, while the 2.0 tracks on the previous sets handled the sound on the show nicely the 5.1 track really amps things up: bass is on point and the dialouge is clear and in the center where it needs to be.
