With Superman Returns breaking $200 Million domestically and a worldwide gross of over $390 million, Warner Bros. is moving forward with the sequel. Bryan Singer and crew are on board for the sequel with some adjustments. The budget has been drastically cut from the 280 million (with marketing cost added) it cost to make Superman Returns to around $140-175 million. Also the studio has called for more action, The studio was quite happy with the way Superman was reintroduced to the world and next time around expect to see him in full action battle mode. It has been rumored that Superman will have the battle of his life in the sequel and audiences can expect one of the ultimate baddies in the D.C. universe to come to Metropolis to pick a fight with the Man of Steel (Darkseid or Brainiac anyone?).

Its standard these days for comic films to have multiple baddies (Catwoman + Penguin / Goblin + Sandman + Venom) so I would expect a DC villain duo, or maybe even trio, not necessarily allied with eachother, but all throwing around their share of devastation. Perhaps we could see some Metallo as an intro villain for Supes to tangle with to show off his mettle. Then we could move up to Brainiac-controlled Lex Luthor (JLU anyone?) leading up to an epic battle in space between Supes and Brainiac. Or what if they decide to throw in a break out at Stryker’s meta-prison, and he’s gotta round up a handful of villains in a chaotic 20 vs 1 scene chockfull of action! Needless to say, as long as there’s loads more action in the sequel, I’ll be happy.
