Clear images of Optimus Prime!

Published: Tuesday, September 5th, 2006 By:Gearbot

We showed off the ill received Megatron a few days ago, and now we have nice clear images of the Autobot leader Optimus Prime. Even if you didn’t like the early leaks of Megatron, I think these comps of Prime look pretty good. Granted these aren’t the cardboard box bots we are used to from the 80’s toon, but this is definitely more realistic.

What do you guys think? Best leave some comments… or I’ll go Starscream all over on your ASS!!!1111!!!!!

Well, hopefully this movie does a shit ton of business at the box office and maybe we’ll get an all CG straight to DVD remake of the OG movie… that would be my dream….

Horrible design, looks like some French case modder took ahold of an old Optimus body and quite literally “flamed” it. Optimus wasn’t about flash, he was a semi with a BFG that had an awesome voice and a plate over his mouth. I’m oldschool, period. This is becoming Michael Bay’s homoerotic transformer fantasy. Oh and by the way, I love gearcritech, have for years, please dont post “Best leave some comments… or I’ll go Starscream all over on your ASS!!!1111!!!!!” That sounds like the 14yr olds that made me leave WoW.

Fuck this shit……….this may be my last post of any type here for awhile. As you read this I am making my way towards michael bay’s home armed like those dudes that took on the cops in cali a few years back.

But seriously though. As a robot design it’s not bad cept for the gay ass flames and coloring. But as OPTIMUS PRIME it’s horrible. I’m not just saying this out of love the the og TF. But come on, this shit is ridiculous.

I’m giving this one a chance this time around… I have overreacted for every freakin’ super hero movie.. I though the suit and tumbler in Batman Begins were terrible.. but in the movie… it was on point.

I mean why is everybody acting like this is new? Anything past G1 has fucking sucked. Every other version of Megatron has fucking sucked… (except Galvatron), every other version of Prime has fucking sucked…. A gorilla? A neon green tank? a T-Rex??? all that shit was terrible. Megatron as a flying black dragon???? c’mon…

At least we are getting them in a form that pays homage to their old school G1 form… and even getting some classic voices coming back. So i would go easy on the comps we are seeing…

Overall I think you guys should be more concerned with what other changes they make… Personalities, back stories, character dynamics… as long as those are not tampered with too much i’ll be happy.

What I was hoping for, was that the guys who still write the transformers comics, and do a damn good job of it, would do the script. Unfortunately that is NOT the case. I’d love to go in there with a fresh slate, willing to “see” what transformers is about in the year 2006, but being a child raised with the OG transformers it’s hard. My first, and I mean first movie memory is watching transformers. Then came like The Goonies, Top Gun, Never Ending story etc etc, but transformers is the quinessential movie in my life, from the soundtrack, the quotes, the battles. I dont know, I apologize for the shitty attitude, that picture just brought out the worst in me.

    I agree…

I mean i can pretty much recite TF the movie line for line…

ONE SHALL STAND…. ONE SHALL FALL!!!!

And yes the comics are great… my favorite thing about transformers since the original toon aired and the movies… However EVERYTHING since has been a HUGE disappointment… Beastwars, Cybertron, and whatever other shit they have come up with since the OG series has sucked….

I’m going in with an open mind…

Honestly any live action TV shit would be eh… The only way to do a perfect 80’s toon to film woudl be to do another Animated movie or to go CG. Live action requires to many changes.

Speaking of TF… the SE of Transformers The Movie hits in November.. I can’t wait!!!

I’m sorry, but I WILL flame the art direction they are taking with this movie. Of course I’ll go and see it when it comes out but still, these robots look like someone took the OG transformers, dipped them in crazy glue then threw them into a massive pile of scrap metal. I am not down with this!! They could have updated the look of the transformers without straying this far from the OG designs.
