New Mac Products

02.28.06 Apple Event

Sure it’s a bit late… Luckily for us the announcements made yesterday weren’t that big. The biggest news was Apple revealing that the Mac Mini would get the Intel update. The price point is a tiny bit higher but the big news is that the new Macs would come loaded with Front Row.

Speaking of Front Row, it got a small update yesterday that adds Bonjour/rendezvous/zero config networking access. What that basically means is, if you have a PC or Mac on the same network as your new Intel Mini and simply turn on iTunes (or iPhoto) sharing, your Mac Mini can access your entire iTunes library in front row. Pretty snazzy stuff.

Apple also showed off a few new iPod accessories, mainly a super overpriced leather case and a super overpriced set of iPod speakers. The leather case looks nice but it gives you no button access and like I said… its WAY over priced… 99 bucks over priced. The iPod speakers or “iPod Hi-Fi” as they call it is just basically a set of speakers… big whoop, and the price point is $350 for a damn set of speakers.

Most people said it was a disappointing event, but I just think they let the speculation get their hopes up. Anyhow, take a look at the new iPod Hi-Fi and the Intel Mac Mini.

Have fun.

speakers, are not only overpriced.. it just looks lame as it is.. I enjoy the sleekness of the iPod and iMac.. but this is truly an awkward product for Apple. About the price, though… I could get a Bose Sounddock for LESS the money, and I would say that the Bose is just as good of sound quality as the Hi-Fi if not better
