H1000, M8000, Mega-X, & the A1200

Samsung recently announced the SPH-H1000, a DMB/WiBro capable phone that doubles as a wireless broadband receiver, comes in 2 & 3 megapixel versions, and supports VoIP calling also. It features a nice 2.2″ QVGA 262k display and can output those juicy DMB satellite broadcasts to a much bigger screen for your viewing pleasure. It disguises itself as a your everyday flip phones but swivels to a form factor a la the sidekick displaying a QWERTY keyboard for easy text-messaging. Seems like a Korea-only phone; no pricing or availability outside the Korea/Japan area. More picture goodness via link.

The SPH M8000 features some of the same things as the phone above like being WiBro Capable, with a DMB satellite TV tuner and has that beloved video-out. It features common functions found in PDAs but is extremely big and coming in at 184 grams which is weighty given todays standards. I’ll supply you with Gizmodo’s definition of WiBro since they said it so eloquently and is pretty hard to top.

WiBro is a wireless broadband technology that’s rolling out in Asia as we speak-we shan’t be enjoying any WiBro any time soon-but what we have here is a 520mhz monster that can kick any standard PDA’s ass.

Newgens’s Mega-X mp3… uhmm cellphone looks like one of those unsightly and horrible convergent video camera/digital camera/mp3 player/text reader that doubles as a hard drive. This dual band GSM 900/1800 GPRS phone hosts an afixxed 1.3 megapixel camera that can move 45 degrees, has a 1.8-inch 26k color LCD screen, and 128MB of integrated memory. It has a practical video/digital camera, mpeg-4 player, mp3 player that displays songs on a second screen. But all this does come at a cost which is a short talk-time of 2.5-hours & only 128MB of storage (no expansion slot =/ ). Suppose to ship this month.

This Motorola Smartphone is still in the development cycles but this is one of the leaked photos from an internal mole, I presume. Specs include a 2-megapixel camera, a fairly big 2.4-inch QVGA TFT display, 8MB of integrated storage, and weighs in only at 95grams. Storage can be upped to 512MB using T-Flash memory which is better than the measly 8MB supplied. It comes with a business card scanning feature, supports POP3 SMTP, and IMAP4 email protocols. You can also look through and edit Excel, Word and Powerpoint files. This beast also supports many multimedia formats (10) like AAC+, mp3,mp4, and realplayer and has a bluetooth stereo headset. It also has a nice battery that allows for 270-480 minutes of talktime. Should come out in January and the price is still unknown.
