Brett Ratner on X3

“According to Variety Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment set Brett Ratner on Friday night to replace Matthew Vaughn as the director of “X3,” the third installment of the “X-Men” franchise.”

We were all disappointed by Vaughn dropped out of the project, since it would have been a fresh take on the franchise, plus it would’ve been interesting to see what direction he would have taken it. Rumor has it he was going to kill off a major X-man. Apparently Ratner was in the running to helm the original X-men, which he lost to Bryan Singer, and he was also involved in the development of Superman Returns, so it seems there’s a little X-men/Superman circle that he and Singer keep playing tag inside. I’ve heard of Ratner before, but off hand I’m not aware of what previous films he’s been involved with. Hopefully he can uphold the franchise and work wonders.

“The original returning stars have been signed, and the cast is bolstered by Kelsey Grammer, Vinnie Jones and Maggie Grace (”Lost”), who just came aboard as new mutant characters.”
