Geneon just announced that they are throwing their hat in the UMD arena. Geneon is starting with two pretty awesome Anime, Appleseed and Samurai Champloo!
Appleseed is a remake of the 1988 Anime classic of the same name and both are based off of the Masamune Shirow Appleseed Manga.
All of you here should know what Samurai Champloo is, it Shinichiro Watanabe’s (of Cowboy Bebop fame) take on Samurais and Hip hop and just happens to be my all time favorite anime series.
Can’t wait for to have either of these right in my pocket!!!
Hopefully UMDs will come down in price and become a more viable format. I currently own a few and think they are really cool, just not worth the same price if not more then what I paid for it’s big brother DVD counter part! Once the prices are lowered I think people will be buying up UMDs just like they buy DVDs.
