Space Ghost Coast to Coast, this is basically the reason we now have the awesome power of ADULT SWIM! SGCTC is among the first in a long line of strange new shows using old Hanna Barbera cartoon footage. Since SGCTC we’ve gotten Harvey Birdman Attorney At Law, Sealab 2021 and others. SGCTC is also the reason we now have my personal favorite Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
While there haven’t been new episode in quite some time, the classic still holds up. The interviews work so well even if they don’t make much sense and the the comradery that Zorack, Moltar and SG has to be seen to be explained.

The Series
Watch Space Ghost’s definitive interviews with real celebrities whose expressions reveal everything from awkward puzzlement to an obvious hangover. Brak, Zorak and Moltar are also there to help ease your suffering–and deliciously add to Space Ghost’s.
Volume 3 is loaded with the likes of Bob Odenkirk & David Cross, Beck, Bobcat Goldthwait, Robin Leach, Mark Hamill, Jon Stewart, Ice-T, Mike Judge, Colin Quinn, George Clinton, Erik Estrada, Rob Zombie, Raven Symone, Charlton Heston, Andy Dick, Chuck D, They Might Be Giants, Tony Bennett & Tom Arnold…. phew!
Wow, that’s quite a list, imagine those celebs being interviewed by psycho path with a praying mantis keyboard player! This show is what people on the bleeding edge call avant-garde, Space ghost was and still is something special to alot of people. A classic in it’s own time!

Transfer
This is the low spot of the DVD. Unfortunately this time around it isn’t the transfer that’s bad, it’s the source material. This was one of the first shows to use older source material as it’s content and obviously the technique wasn’t perfected. With newer shows like ATHF and Sealab you can see the backgrounds and foregrounds are much, much, MUCH cleaner.
It’s a shame, all the animation and background “art” in the show is soft, fuzzy and noisy. although most of live video and CG scenes are fairly clean.

Audio
As with nearly all standard def TV shows the audio isn’t anything spectacular, but it does the job. The voice acting on this show is incredible and the sound effects sound great. However it’s pretty much all front loaded, which is expected.

Extras
Volume 3 is packed with a good amount of extras including an alternate ending For the Zorak episode, Audio Commentary on 5 episodes, Space Ghost’s Mysterious NASA Experience Featurette, an interview with Bob Odenkirk and David Cross and a moment with Jon Stewart.
Not only are the extras pretty good, but the Packaging is amazing. We get a really nice Digi-pack with a cardboard finish and nice subtle packaging art. Adult Swim has really stepped up their packaging, all of it is beautiful and was obviously given alot of thought

Overall
Space Ghost Coast To Coast is/was a trend setting show and it’s easy to see why. It’s one of the funniest, off beat, off the wall shows to come around in YEARS! Not only that but this show is responsible for some current fan favs namely ATHF and Sealab.
SGCTC hods up incredibly well and is still really, really funny. A must buy for any Adult Swim fan!
