The Incredibles DVD Review

Being a fan of comic books and movies alike I was eagerly awaiting Brad Bird (The Iron Giant) and Pixar’s (Toy Story, Monsters INC.) “The Incredibles”. And found it to be a terriffic mix of everything I like in comics and movies, think X-Men meets James Bond and you got “The Incredibles”. Now the unlikely pairing of Bird and the Mouse House’s former favorite son is on DVD and here is the Review!!!

The Movie
Bob Parr and his wife Helen used to be among the world’s greatest crime fighters, saving lives and battling evil on a dialy basis. Fifteen years later, they have been forced to adopt civillian identities and retreat to the suburbs where they live “normal” lives with their three kids, Violet, “Dash”, and Jack-Jack. Itching to get back into action, Bob gets his chance when a mysterious communication sumons him to a remote island for a top secre assignment. He soon discovers that it will take a super family effort to rescue the world from total desctrustion.

Transfer
Presented in its Theatrical Widescreen Aspect Ratio of 2.39:1 (a Full Frame version is also being offered but who cares!!!). This Direct Digital-To-Digital Transfer is like every past Pixar DVD….AMAZING!!! The Colors are Vivid and seem to pop off the screen, while you never quite forget your watching an animated film you cant seem to turn away.

Audio
“The Incredibles” sports one of if not THE BEST audio mixes Ive heard, on this disc you get a English THX Certified 5.1EX surround track along with French and Spanish 5.1EX tracks, This certainly not a front loaded track by all means, the surrounds are in FULL use on this disc (best example would be Chapter 23 “100 Mile Dash”)

Packed to the brim this 2-Disc Collector’s Edition give dvd lovers everything they could possibly want. On Disc one you get 2 Commentary Tracks, the first with director Brad Bird and Producer John Walker, and the other with the Pixar animators (who if you remember from the Finding Nemo DVD can get rather foul mouthed). Disc 2 has not only the animated short that played Theatrically with “The Incredibles” the Academy Award Nominated (2003) Short Film “Boundin’ ” but it also spors the new “Jack-Jack Attack” which is sorta a side story to the film. On Disc 2 you also get Deleted Scenes and an Alternate Opening sequence, Top Secret Files on All The Supers, Behind the Scenes Documentaries and a whole lot more!!!
