New X3 Characters

AICN broke the news on what new characters would be appearing in X3. It’s a triple threat this time around, as the three top characters that were vying for appearances in X2 have now landed roles. Everyone’s favorite Cajun thief, Gambit; the loveable blue Beast; and the winged Angel. All three will be featured in the film as the team’s latest additions, with one major twist. The Angel character is going to be a girl. This is going to be a major outrage for hardcore X-men fans everywhere, but this is the kind of change that goes hand in hand with the kind of changes typically made to comic book adaptations (i.e., black leather, organic web shooters, sans english accents, etc). If this is the last of the X-films, then the Angel’s gender won’t make much of a difference since there won’t be any more sequels. Personally, I’m disappointed in the change. I only hope that this Angel that they are referring to in the cast is the Grant Morrison/New X-men version, a Hispanic girl with insect wings, rather than the tall, blonde, rich white boy version. If that is the case this would be less of a slap in the face to avid X-men fans.
