It’s official. Warner Bros. has officially announced the casting of 25 year old actor Brandon Routh as Superman.

“Contrary to speculation, it was always my absolute intention to hire an unknown for this role,” says Director Bryan Singer, “Brandon is an extremely fine actor who possesses the physical qualifications of Clark Kent/Superman. But he also embodies the legacy and history of this character in a way that makes me certain he’s the right choice.”

The movie will be produced by Jon Peters, Bryan Singer, and Gilbert Adler from a script by Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty with a release scheduled for summer 2006. Now that the Man of Steel himself has been chosen, the rest of the cast should start filtering in as well.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman!
