Paramount has brought in John Woo to direct a film adaptation of the popular Rainbow Six novel by Tom Clancy. This project has been on Paramount’s plate since 1999 and has cycled through several different writers. John Woo was recently attached as well, and so now production on the film should speed up a little. The storyline of the movie is apparently based on the novel and will have nothing to do with the games, such as Rogue Spear and Black Arrow. The film will follow main character John Clark, portrayed by Willem Dafoe in Clear and Present Danger and by Liev Schreiber in Sum of All Fears. Clark heads up Rainbow Six, which is an anti-terrorist counterstrike force, and must prevent the release of a biologically engineered strain of the Ebola virus.
Production info, release date, and any other details are currently unknown.
